Read the next spine-tingling thriller in The Thomas Family series: NIGHTSCREAM available now!!!

NO ONE WILL HEAR YOU SCREAM

While a serial killer terrorizes a small mountain town, a Sheriffs Deputy is forced to work with an FBI agent to hunt down the evil sadistic killer.

HE'S WATCHING

Cody Thomas is an FBI agent working the Violent Crimes Unit in Los Angeles, California when he takes a week off to decompress in his hometown of Big Bear.

Jilly Reid has left the Central Homicide Unit of San Bernardino and moved up the mountain to her hometown of Big Bear to get away from death and her cheating ex-husband.

HE'S WAITING

No sooner does Cody arrive in town when he runs into Jilly, a girl he knew in high school. But there's no time to reminisce, she's in a hurry. An incoherent call came into dispatch. A fisherman down in Hunters Cove is carrying on about finding dead women.

A lot of them.

Cody blackmails Jilly into letting him ride along. What they find is an underwater grave. A serial killer is using the lake to dump his victims. Seven women, brutally tortured, are chained to cinder blocks, their long tresses waving back and forth with the current.

Their faces set in a silent scream for all eternity.

At first they think the killer is long gone, but soon they learn he's watching Cody and Jilly. Taunting them. Then women start disappearing at an alarming rate.

HE'S PISSED

Meagan McInnis and J. J. Thomas go to meet his brother Cody at the family cabin for spring break. But relaxing is the last thing they get when her sister, Bridget, goes missing.

YOU'RE DEAD

Now the clock is ticking. Can the killer be stopped before time runs out?

Spirits Visit Silently!!

WHAT HE SEES WOULD SCARE YOU TO DEATH

Jon-Luc is in Paris hunting a serial killer. That's nothing new. Neither is being haunted by the victims. But watching the murders through the killers eyes? Now that's something new entirely!

HE WILL FIND YOU

After she's black listed by the fashion industry in New York, Angela Henderson moves to Paris, France. Designing clothes is in her blood and she'll stop at nothing to realize her dream.

Great novella, can't wait for more

At long last, the third installment in the Andrew Z. Thomas series and prequel to Crouch's and Konrath's thriller STIRRED...

Somehow, Luther Kite has found them.

Following the events of DESERT PLACES and LOCKED DOORS, Andy Thomas and Violet King are hiding out in the wilds of northern Canada, where Violet has a four-month-old son and a burgeoning romance with Andy. On a cold, rainy night at their cabin in the woods, the promise of an idyllic life that seems just around the corner is shattered when a man from their past, a monster of pure malevolence, returns. What he has in store for them will challenge their understanding of evil and stretch the fibers of their love to the breaking point.

"Break You" is a novella, continuing the story of Andrew Thomas. There is almost a surreal quality about this book - vivid descriptive passages (as in all of Crouch's books) describing the empty factories and homes in the barren landscapes of car assembly graveyards.

A stay-up-all-night thriller

LOCKED DOORS is Blake Crouch's second novel; his first, DESERT PLACES.

I began reading LOCKED DOORS at 10:00 p.m. on a Monday evening, and kept reading until I was too tired to hold the book properly. Crouch quite simply is a marvel. He changes perspective, points of view, and tense at whim, challenging you to hang on and ride with him. And it's easy to do. He's so good you'll want to hug him because you love him or smack him because you're jealous; sometimes you want to do both, simultaneously.

I'll give you an example. LOCKED DOORS involves, among other things, a gentleman named Luther Kite who is as dangerous and fearsome as anyone you could meet. One of the best passages in the book concerns a visit Kite pays to a Waffle House, where he orders pancakes. You know that either it'll turn out okay or he'll be painting the walls, but you're not sure which. I guarantee you though that if you read LOCKED DOORS you'll visit a Waffle House, just once, to see if Luther Kite is there. You won't be able to resist; Crouch's descriptive powers are that finely honed. Then there's another scene, darn near perfect, where Kite goes into a Wal-Mart...

New Talent, New Blood, A Roller Coaster Ride

The first installment in the Andrew Z. Thomas Series and a prequel to Crouch's and Konrath's thriller STIRRED...

Greetings. There is a body buried on your property, covered in your blood. The unfortunate young lady's name is Rita Jones. In her jeans pocket you'll find a slip of paper with a phone number on it. Call that number. If I have not heard from you by 8:00 P.M., the police will receive an anonymous call. I'll tell them where Rita Jones is buried on your property, how you killed her, and where the murder weapon can be found in your house. (I do believe a paring knife is missing from your kitchen.) I strongly advise against going to the police, as I am always watching you.

Andrew Z. Thomas is a successful writer of suspense thrillers, living the dream at his lake house in the piedmont of North Carolina. One afternoon in late spring, he receives a bizarre letter that eventually threatens his career, his sanity, and the lives of everyone he loves. A murderer is designing his future, and for the life of him, Andrew can't get away.

Dear Reader: Please keep the light on tonight. What happens next will scare you. Guaranteed.

If you like endings that never seem to end, this one book you must read.

Blake Crouch has written one captivating mystery with "Abandon". In 1893 the entire town of Abandon disappears under mysterious circumstances and then 116 years later, a team of explorers go to the town to do some research and take photos. When two of the guides are attacked in front of the rest of the group, the mystery becomes even more mysterious. Alternating between the two time periods, Crouch has the reader watch as events unfold in the past, and how the tension builds up as we discover what the real reason these people are here. I, at first, was skeptical, thinking this was a supernatural type of story but was completely and happily surprised that this was as suspenseful thriller based on greed. Great book.

The Last Town

Blake Crouch Expertly Finishes Wayward Pines Series with "The Last Town"

I have been a fan of Blake Crouch for a few years now. If you spend any time looking around this blog, you'll see me going on and on about his outstanding thriller RUN, which I think is still one of the best thriller/suspense novels of all time.

Crouch manages to get you care about characters while pacing his novels at break-neck speed. The intensity of each novel, even ones in a series, manage to ratchet up the tension until you are ready to explode. If you are reading it in paperback, you cannot turn the pages fast enough, and if you are reading it digitally, the one-tenth of a second it takes for the device to go to the next page feels like an eternity.

Crouch followed up RUN with the novel PINES. It told the story of Secret Service agent Ethan Burke who wants up in the strange town of Wayward Pines. It seems like the perfect town, set high in the mountains, and he was sent there to find a missing agent, but things are not what they seem. To tell you much more is to spoil the plot and that would be a shame.

The second novel in the series was entitled Wayward Pines and it was also brilliant, but if you haven't read the first one, I can't tell you a damn thing about the second. Suffice it to say, the action was intense, the drama was brilliant and the story was breathtaking in scope and speed.

Now, as Wayward Pines is set to become a Fox Network TV mini-series, Crouch finishes his trilogy with The Last Town. Once again, Crouch proves that he is one of the best thriller/suspense writers out there. The novel is truly un-put-downable. I finished it in just over a day. It picks up right where the second novel leaves off and many, many exciting, terrifying and thrilling things happen. None of it I can really tell you about without a huge SPOILERS alert, and I hate writing that, so I am not going to do it.

Seriously, if you love action, terror, mystery and heart-stopping suspense then you need to read the Wayward Pines trilogy. Trust me, you'll be into them so fast that you'll read all three in less than a week. You will not regret it and, if you are like me, you will be anxious to see how they transfer this one to TV.

Today I will talk about mystery and thriller books

A thriller provides the sudden rush of emotions, excitement, and exhilaration that drive the narrative, sometimes subtly with peaks and lulls, sometimes at a constant, breakneck pace. It keeps the audience on the "edge of their seats", akin to a sensation of hanging from a cliff, as the plot builds towards a climax.
Mystery fiction is a genre of fiction typically focused on the investigation of a crime. Mystery fiction is often used as a synonym fordetective fiction or crime fiction—in other words a novel or short story in which a detective (either professional or amateur) investigates and solves a crime mystery. Sometimes mystery books are nonfictional. "Mystery fiction" can be detective stories in which the emphasis is on the puzzle or suspense element and its logical solution such as a whodunit. Mystery fiction can be contrasted with hardboiled detective stories, which focus on action and gritty realism.

Mystery fiction may involve a supernatural or thriller mystery where the solution does not have to be logical, and even no crime involved
  • Anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown
  • Any affair, thing, or person that presents features or qualities so obscure as to arouse curiosity orspeculation
  • A novel, short story, play, or film whose plot involves a crime or other event that remains puzzlinglyunsettled until the very end
  • Obscure, puzzling, or mysterious quality or character
  • Any truth that is unknowable except by divine revelation.

Excellent Device!

`                      I have had the Fire TV up and running for a few days now. Thus far it has been a fantastic device! It is so much faster than the app on my Sony TV.

We have watched a few movies and TV episodes on it and it never buffers, does not have to check the connection speed, nothing, it just instantaneously starts!

The RF remote is great, doesn't need line of sight and the speak to search function has been flawless. It has never once failed to produce the correct results.

As of this date the Prime choices are clear and easy to find. Yes, a search just for Prime content would be nice, but I have not had an issue yet finding Prime content. In this regard, the Sony app is better, but not having to wait 5 minutes for the app to get on screen then struggle for 5 more typing in a search query on the remote is a blessing and a half.

Install was a breeze, setup took just a few minutes. The device, like the Apple TV is always on, so getting to content is as easy and quick as getting to the correct input, and touching a remote button.

Having both the Fire TV and the AppleTV, I prefer the Fire. This is mainly because of the content with being a Prime member. The AppleTV is mainly used to mirror the iPad to the TV now.

I would gladly purchase this device again, and likely will as gifts.

Works great with one critical flaw.

Having received my Fire TV today, I've been trying it out for the past couple of hours.

Setup was a no brainer. It required an update immediately so it did take about 15 minutes to have it in action but the process was very simple.

The image quality (movies and games) is excellent. I've tried several movies from Amazon Prime and they look and sound nearly Blu Ray quality as far as I can tell.

Navigation is very straightforward and it's generally easy to find anything you're looking for. Installation of games and apps goes very smoothly and generally pretty quickly.

Let Amazon bring to you the perfect gift...

Shark Tale

This movie is great. It's very funny and gives a good message. Like Dreamworks other movie, 'Madagascar,' it becomes too mature for its target audience, therefore this is not really a film for small children. In fact, adults and teenagers will like this one the most. I think Will Smith is very funny as Oscar - his expressions were priceless!

Now why do people think this is some kind of rip off of Finding Nemo. Lets take a look at the similarities and differences:

Similarities:

*They both had vegetarian sharks.

*They both take place under the ocean.

Differences:

*Finding Nemo is more realistic and takes place on a reef with natural colours. Shark Tale tries a more artistic approach, making it more like a city with shops and apartments. The characters use phones, order pizzas etc.

*There are no humans in ST (apart from an anchor). Whilst with FN, humans were a main part of the story.

*ST is slightly more aimed at older children, teenagers and adults.

*The plots are totally different.

Comparing these two is like comparing apples and oranges. To be honest, I prefer Shark Tale over Finding Nemo. That's just my opinion. I think it is unfair to give Shark Tale a bad review just because it is something it was never intended to be.

The One & Only

The One & Only by Emily Giffin is the first book I've read that Emily has written. [This is also my first read for the Summer Reading Challenge 2014 from BookSparks PR. Yay!] Okay, so, yeah. I am having a bit of trouble forming my thoughts on this story. I cannot stop thinking about it and the different characters and just all the things in the book. Let's see. I'm going to try to form a review that makes sense, because mostly, my brain is just going "oh my goodness!" from this story. :)

For nearly three-fourths of the story, I kept feeling like I was on the fence. Just back and forth on my feelings about everything...about Shea, about her as a person and her choices. There were some moments where I really just found her unbelievable and silly and just wanted to shake her. There were other times that I really liked her and could understand where she was coming from. Shea has a lot of issues. It seems like all the relationships in her life - friends, boyfriends, family, just every one - is awkward and strange and has some moments where it just doesn't seem real. The one relationship that does seem real and uncomplicated in her life is her relationship with football.

The football aspects of this story were actually some of my favorite parts. As an Ohio girl who is a huge football fan, and a Dallas Cowboys fan, I really enjoyed those elements of the book. I liked football as the cornerstone that brought everything together. I think without it, the story would have been a lot harder for me to accept and enjoy. I actually found myself more caught up in the Walker games than anything else!

I spent a lot of this story feeling angsty (I don't think that's a word) and anxious and all caught up in so much craziness. I felt awkward a lot of the times that Shea did. I think if I was Shea, I would have lost it. But the story came around and, just like a win on the last second of a game, pulled it together for me. The tears came, and I felt satisfied with the ending of the story. I love when that happens...even though I was engrossed in the story and didn't want to put it down, I still didn't know if I was going to like it until I read the last couple of pages. In the end, and reflecting on the story since finishing it...I did enjoy it. There was a lot I liked about it and ultimately, the story kept me intrigued from start to finish. What more can you ask for?! The One & Only by Emily Giffin kept me thinking about the story even when I wasn't reading it. I think it's one that will stick with me for a while. I look forward to picking up another Emily Giffin book sometime.

Before we kiss

The day that I got this book I had to read it right then. I was supposed to be cleaning and organizing costumes and sewing stuff but I had to read this book. When I started reading this book, I could not put it down. I was just going to read a little and the next thing I knew I was done. I am a big fan of the Fools Gold Series that Susan Mallery writes. I really enjoyed this visit to Fools Gold and catching up with everyone there. The way Susan writes makes you feel like you are a part of this community and that the characters are your friends and neighbors.

I just love the story of Dellina and Sam. I have been looking forward to the story about Sam since he first came to town. I just loved meeting Sam’s parents. They were a hoot but I did feel sorry for Sam since they seem to have no boundaries most of the time. I was glad that Dellina is finally getting her happy ever after. As always the “boys” were a hoot and I am looking forward to Jack and Kenny’s story too.

It was so nice to see all the folks from Fools Gold again. I just love all the folks in Fools Gold. This book will make you laugh, cry and even read faster because of the suspense of some of the scenes. It is great how all the women in the town support each other thru their ups and down.

I am really looking forward to more stories from Fools Gold this year. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.

Take my breath away

Poppy is a single mother raising her young son, Mason, and working on rebuilding resort cabins in the mountains of California. To Poppy, the cabins and resort are her family’s inheritance and a testament to their history. Because her brother and sisters believe this is a lost cause she is working on things alone.

Ryan is an entertainment personality who is not only wealthy but living with a sorrow in his life. Every year, he has a period of such intense pain that he has determined he wants to find a place to stay where he can remain completely isolated from his normal life. His success has not protected him from what he considers to be his failure.

When he and Poppy meet, there is immediate attraction and when a storm does huge damage to the resort the attraction becomes much more.

Both Poppy and Ryan are dealing with pain in their past. Each of them have difficulty dealing with issues. Both find it hard to communicate about inner most thoughts.

This book is a romance, but it is also about family relationships and learning to live life as it is, not as we would wish. It is also about learning to accept help and love from the people around us. There is a great deal of growth shown by both Poppy and Ryan as they see that life can hold joy as well as disappointment.

The plot is well developed. At first I had a hard time getting into the story, once I got a little more deeply in, I remained involved. The characters are created to be well rounded human beings. Each has flaws as well as attractive characteristics.
The secondary characters add a great deal to the story. I was especially enamored of, Mason, Poppy’s little boy. The family and friends who are introduced as the story progresses each bring a new layer to the story.
I can see why Ms Ridgway is such a popular author.

THE LITTLE PRINCESS

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this book. I'm not really even a kid person and I liked it. Which considering its a romance that revolves around a kid that's saying something.

When Tanner learns that he has a child, it doesn't come as a surprise per say. He'd already agreed with the mother that they were going to give the baby up for adoption. But when he goes to look at his newborn daughter he realizes that he can't give her up. So while the mother jet-sets to California, he becomes a single father. And doctor Kelly Hall goes from not liking this father to be to really admiring him. Enough that she offers to help him buy baby stuff and help out the first couple of weeks to get him adjusted to the infant. What she doesn't expect is to fall for him though, especially when she has so many things in her past that she has to overcome too.

Tanner is a great guy. He has flaws, but isn't afraid to jump headfirst into anything. And he's pretty awesome for wanting to raise his daughter by himself. So many guys wouldn't want to do that. Yes I know he's fictional, but he seems very real. Kelly was good too. She had some shadows in her past and had to work through them and find some self acceptance. And that's a good lesson right there and a good draw to a realistic character. The baby played a somewhat lesser role in this book, despite it being the main focus of the story.

Considering this book was all about a baby, it was more than just feedings and diapers and baby stuff. Which actually that was kind of weird because the baby played a small role next to the romance story. It was more Kelly and Tanner doing stuff and getting stuff ready for the baby as opposed to taking care of her. But it was still a good story. There are some long sex scenes in it, so if that's not your thing, you probably shouldn't read it. I liked how everything progressed and the book had a good pace to it.

Attracting Perfect Customers: The Power of Strategic Synchronicity

I've had a few weeks to let this book sink in and I must say that I'm very impressed with what these authors have written. Basing a business approach on the Law of Attraction may seem a little new-agey to some hardened business people. But a great gift of the New Age thinkers is the betterment of our society and living with integrity.

Being a former business owner (and present-day self-help author), I can really appreciate the concept of attracting the best customers and the best employees. The recommended strategy of finding out what makes people tick, looking for room for improvement, finding out what others expect of you, and having more than one plan are clearly defined in the "Strategic Attraction Process."
These authors understand another gift of New Age thinking and that is the concept of manifesting results. That starts with ideas, thinking, attitudes, identities, standards and beliefs. This foundation is thoroughly covered in the "6 Standards of Strategic Synchonicity."
But my favorite part of the book is where they talk about the "21 Daily Tips." Here is a simple treasure chest of ideas for stimulating the attraction process. Some enlightened goodies include:
* Let your perfect customer know they are perfect
* Expect breakthroughs to look like breakdowns
* Share, share, and share yourself
* Break bread with a competitor
* Accept that you don't know
* Make irresistible improvements
I could go on and on about this book. It all boils down to approaching business from a higher place and enjoying the benefits of giving your passion to the value you produce.
Becoming an enlightened business person is a great way to live your passion! This book certainly helps in your quest.
